The Lady Lions opened up their 2019 season, with a tri-match against the Yeshiva University Maccabees and the SUNY-Delhi Broncos.
The Lady Lions swept each set against the Maccabees resulting in a 3-0 win. The Lady Lions fought hard in their game against the Broncos, but weren't able to walk away with the win. This was a great performance by the Lady Lions in their season opener and they ended this tri-match 1-1.
With 6 new freshmen on the roster, the Lady Lions had a lot of new talent show in both games.
Vs. Yeshiva Maccabees
Freshman Avery Johnson downed 6 kills to go along with 2 aces.
Freshman Alex Kemsley followed close behind notching 5 kills to add to her 6 aces. Freshman Callie Donaghue and Abby Roth also had a great night, each serving 6 aces as well. Roth also posted a high of 14 assists.
Sophomore Ruby Anastacio added 5 aces, 3 kills, and 3 assists to help the Lady Lions. Freshman Esther Felipe chipped in with 2 kills and 3 aces.
Vs. SUNY-Delhi
Although the Lady Lions weren't victorious in this game, Johnson downed 7 kills, bringing her total to 13.
Kemsley followed behind with 3 kills and 2 aces. Donaghue added 4 more aces to her record.
