TKC Volleyball Sweeps the Culinary Steels

The King's College Women's Volleyball team traveled to Newburgh, NY on Sunday afternoon for their first Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) match of the season. The Lady Lions got off to a strong start as they posted a 3-0 win (25-11, 25-10, 25-10) against the hosting Culinary Institute of America Steels.

King's got another strong performance from the powerhitting duo of senior Isabelle Sandmeyer and freshman Samantha Klozik. Sandmeyer had 13 kills, 5 aces, 5 digs and 18 points. Klozik had 13 points, 4 aces, 11 digs and 17 points. The pair benefitted from the 27 assists and 7 digs distributed by freshman Renae Maganza. Senior Savannah White contributed 3 assists, an ace and 7 digs. Freshman Leah Thomas chipped in with 2 kills while freshman Ruby Anastacio had a kill and 2 assists. Freshman Sasha Conner posted 4 kills and 1 dig and freshman Kyra Kleinsmith closed out the King's scoresheet with an assist and 8 digs.

The win improves the Lady Lions record to 4-5 overall and 1-0 in the HVIAC conference.

The King's College will make the short trip to Brooklyn next Sunday for a tri-match with Pratt Institute and SUNY-New Delhi.
