Lady Lions Play Strong Defense Against Pratt

On January 31st the Lady Lions took on the Cannoneers from Pratt Institute for the second time this season. In their last matchup against Pratt, the Lady Lions came close to picking up the win, but came up short by 10 points, falling 59-50. The Lady Lions would battle the Cannoneers utilizing their great defense and ended the first half up 18-14. Unfortunately the Lady Lions struggled offensively and were unable to maintain their lead, dropping 42-27 to the Cannoneers.

Sophomore Catie Shoemaker earned her second double-double of the season, snatching a season high of 14 rebounds and scoring a season high of 12 points. Shoemaker also had 2 assists and 2 steals. Sophomore Sha Sanders added 6 points to help the Lady Lions.

With sophomore Bailey Kaufman returning to the lineup, the Lady Lions were up an experienced player, coming into this game. Kaufman made a big difference in the Lady Lions defense, taking down 10 defensive rebounds. Kaufman scored 5 points, made 2 steals, and 1 assist.

Freshman Emmaline Waller also made a great contribution to the Lady Lions defense, grabbing 9 defensive rebounds. Waller put up 2 points and made 1 steal.

Senior Megan LeBlanc played a role in the way the Lady Lions played defense this game, by directing players and communicating on the court. LeBlanc took down 4 rebounds and put up 2 points for the Lady Lions.

NEXT UP: The Lions will face Five Towns College again on February 2nd at Baruch College (6:30pm).
