Thomason's 41 Crushes Cooper Union

Thomason's 41 Crushes Cooper Union

Freshman Kelsey Thomason scored 41 points as The King's College Women's Basketball team defeated Cooper Union in the season finale for King's. Thomason added 8 rebounds and 3 assists as well as 4 steals as King's raced to a 55-18 halftime lead en route to a 85-35 victory.

The win was a positive end to the season for the Lady Lions who saw their spring semester roster decimated by injuries. After starting the season with a 2-0 record and a healthy and talented 12-woman roster, the team struggled to put five healthy bodies on the floor in January and February. But Coach Bill Mangarelli and his squad persevered and continued to play with passion and pride.

Junior Anna Eaves had a double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Junior point guard Kylie Locklar returned from surgery and added to her strong finish to the season with 7 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Newcomer Elaina Bals had a monster game on the glass with 20 rebounds and contributed 12 points while junior Megan Starnes had 8 points 7 rebounds and 6 steals. Freshman Kathryn Brooks lent her support with 4 points and 5 rebounds.

Skyler Eiskowitz led Cooper Union with 22 points and 8 rebounds.

The King's College concludes their season with a 3-8 record. However, the team is quite optimistic about next season. The team has no seniors and therefore does not lose anyone to graduation, and with their roster coming back and hopefully completely healthy,  as well as a few talented recruits coming in, the future looks promising.
