Men's Soccer Bested By Blue Angels

Men's Soccer Bested By Blue Angels

The King's College Men's Soccer Team lost 2-0 last night to the College of New Rochelle Blue Angels. The game was played under the lights at Aviator Field in Brooklyn. The contest was the first between the two schools as the College of New Rochelle men's soccer team is a new program with this being their debut season in the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The game was shaping up to be a test of both teams' defensive will and was scoreless until TKC freshman goalkeeper Richard Christensen had to leave the field with an injury 15 minutes into the match. Junior Michal Tomasiewicz entered for TKC to take over the goalkeeping duties, and just 90 seconds later, CNR's Jovanni Garcia took a pass from Cesar Rodriguez and found the net for a 1-0 CNR lead.

The TKC defense held firm the rest of the first half as they were outshot 15-3 in the first 45 minutes. But the teams headed to the locker room with CNR still only managing a 1-0 lead.

CNR outshot TKC 12-3 in the second half but still could not extend their lead as Tomasiewicz turned them away continuously. But with under five minutes to play Garcia again found a hole in the TKC defense and scored his second goal of the game as time ticked off the clock. That's the way it would end as CNR notched the 2-0 victory.

With the loss TKC falls to 3-6-1 overall and 2-3 in the HVIAC. New Rochelle improves to 10-2 overall and 4-0 in the HVIAC.
