Lady Lions Bow to Gryphons

Despite one of the more powerful displays in recent memory The King's College Volleyball team was edged 3-2 by the Sarah Lawrence College Gryphons. Senior Isabelle Sandmeyer and freshman Samantha Klozik combined for 35 kills but the team came up just a bit short (25-15, 23-25, 28-26, 20-25, 13-15) in a grueling five set match. The loss dropped King's record to 3-5 on the season.

Klozik led the team with 18 kills, 3 service aces, 21 digs and 21.5 points, while Sandmeyer had 17 kills, 2 aces, 12 digs and 19.5 points. Freshman Renae Maganza provided a staggering 38 assists in the offensive display along with 14 digs. Freshman Sasha Conner added 5 kills, 1 ace, 2 digs and 7 points. Freshman Kyra Kleinsmith had 2 kills, 6 aces, 7 digs and 8 points. Senior Savannah White chipped in with 3 assists, an ace and6 digs. Freshman Leah Thomas added a kill and freshman Ruby Anastacio added an ace and a dig.

The team will have to regroup quickly as they will travel to Newburgh, NY on Sunday to take on the Culinary Institute of America in their first Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match of the season.
