Lady Lions Battle Bears in Tough Loss

Lady Lions Battle Bears in Tough Loss

On Thursday night the TKC Women's Volleyball team made the short trip over to Brooklyn to visit The Hill Center, home of the St. Joseph's Bears. The Lady Lions started out slow and took time to get a rhythm going. They dropped the first two sets 25-11 and 25-7 as the Bears were firing on all cylinders. However, the Lady Lions had a big spark and a few great runs in the third set, and it was competitive all the way down to the wire, but they could not quite hang on losing 25-22.

Despite the loss the ladies showed a lot of heart in not giving up when it seemed that it was going to be a steam roll. Junior Dekka Hunley 8 kills and 13 digs, freshman Savannah White had 4 assists and 9 digs, and freshman Marina Barham chipped in with 9 digs. Freshman Isabelle Minano added 8 assists and 2 digs while freshman Annabelle Kopack had 8 digs.

It was senior night for the Lady Lion's lone senior, Grace Croley. She had many great plays throughout the night and ended up with 6 kills, 2 assists and 16 digs. Although TKC did not come out on top, it was a memorable night with strong support and a great showing from The King's College student body.

With the loss TKC falls to 0-8 overall and 0-4 in HVIAC conference play. The Bears improve to 7-6 overall and 1-3 in their Skyline Conference.
