Lady Lions Knock Off New Rochelle

Jacklyn Kelly shows off her dribbling skills.

The King's College Women's Soccer team took on the College of New Rochelle Blue Angels on Friday night. Coming off a 3-0 loss in their previous game, the Lady Lions were looking to put that behind them and come away with a result. King's fired their first shot on goal in the second minute of play on their way to a 24-12 advantage in shots as sophomore Corinne Boonstra singlehandedly outshot New Rochelle with 13 shots herself. Boonstra found the back of the net in the 9th minute to give King's a 1-0 lead when she converted a pass from Jacklyn Kelly.

The sophomore connection combined for another goal in the 38th minute when Kelly dished to Boonstra again to give King's a 2-0 advantage which they took into the halftime break. King's kept the pressure on in the second half and held an 11-5 edge in shots. The 2-0 lead would hold up to the final whistle as King's evened their record at 1-1.

The victory marked the first collegiate win for Coach Bracey Fuenzalida as sophomore keeper Bailey Kaufman had another strong performance making 8 saves in the shutout.
