Women's Soccer Downed by SUNY-Maritime
The King's College dropped a tough 2-0 result in their season opener on the road against SUNY-Maritime. The Lady Lions sent 5 freshmen into the starting  line-up to face the Privateers. The scored was knotted 0-0 at halftime after a hard fought 45 minutes of play which saw Maritime outshoot King's 4-1 while each team had 2 corner kicks. TKC freshman keeper Bailey Kaufman made 3 saves in the first half of her collegiate debut.

The Privateers got started quickly in the second half as they scored the game's first goal just 30 seconds in as Leigh Kouril buried a penalty shot against TKC freshman keeper Madison Carter. Then just 15 minutes later King's found themselves down 0-2 as Melissa Winberry finished off a cross at the left post. The Lady Lions fought to the end as shots were even at 6 a piece in the second half with sophomore Serena Prince missing a chance to tie the game as she rattled a ball off the post at the 50 minute mark. TKC also held a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks in the second half.

NEXT UP: TKC will travel to Syracuse on Labor Day Monday to take on SUNY-ESF in their first HVIAC conference game of the season.
