Women's Soccer Tops Monroe 2-1

Women's Soccer Tops Monroe 2-1

Cydney Barry struck for an unassisted goal 16 minutes into the game as Monroe College took a 1-0 lead. But in the first ever meeting between these two women's soccer programs TKC would rally from behind. Sophomore Madeline Tyler scored at 31:27 of the first half with an unassisted goal of her own. Just six minutes later sophomore Ann Marie Carlson fed a ball to sophomore Kara Simmons who fired home a shot for the 2-1 TKC lead they would take into halftime. Despite outshooting Monroe 22-6, the 2-1 score would stand as the final result. Freshman Kathryn Brooks was rock solid defensively for the Lady Lions as the TKC defense limited the Monroe side to just 3 shots on goal.

The two teams will meet again on Thursday October 13 for the second leg of a home and home series both schools hope can become a regular part of their Fall schedules in years to come.
