Women's Soccer Falls at SUNY-Delhi

Women's Soccer Falls at SUNY-Delhi

Fresh off a weeknight 2-1 victory over Monroe College, the Lady Lions Soccer Team hit the road on Saturday for a match with SUNY-Delhi. Adding to the optimism was the return of senior Victoria McAlister, who had been out of goalkeeping action with an injured wrist.

The good feelings surrounding the Lady Lions were shortlived, however, as SUNY-Delhi registered a 3-0 victory behind the hat trick of Katie Herba. She scored just 6 minutes into the game for a 1-0 lead and then again at the 27:00 minute mark as TKC found themselves down 0-2 at halftime.

Herba struck again 12 minutes into the second half for a 3-0 lead that would become the final. Despite the loss McAlister was strong in the net making 10 saves. The team continues to improve as the young group builds some chemistry. Junior Kylile Locklar leads the defense with four freshman teammates: Stephanie Cantarero, Allison Degnan, Kathryn Brooks and Anne Sraders. Two sophomores, Joanna Overmeyer and Maddie Tyler, and a freshman Hannah Hagadorn patrol the forward areas. The midfield is occupied by five sophomores: Megan LeBlanc, Cynthia Ferraiolo, Ann Marie Carlson, Maddie Montgomery and Kara Simmons and freshman rebekah Lambdin.

The young squad will get back to practice this week before taking on SUNY-ESF in a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest.
