Men's Soccer Overwhelms Webb in Season Opener

The King's Men's Soccer team opened their 2018 campaign with a resounding 15-1 win against Webb Institute.

Junior Daniel Fuenzalida got King's on the scoreboard quickly with a goal just three minutes into the game off a pass from senior Tom Champlin. That was only the beginning as six different Lions found the back of the net. Just one minute later freshmen Edvin Loefgren scored his first collegiate goal off a pass from junior Josiah Simons. At the 9:00 mark Simons tallied a goal of his own after a pass from freshman Isaiah Williams. Six minutes later Simons struck again as Loefgren returned the favor with an assist. At 20:00 Loefgren scored his second goal of the contest with Simons again providing the helper. Nine minutes later Simons got the hat trick with his third goal in the first half with an assist credited to Samuel Johnson. Seven minutes later Johnson added another assist as freshman Luke Kerley recorded his first collegiate goal. Williams closed out the first half scoring with goals in the 42nd and 46th minute with Anton Loefgren assisting on both as King's headed to the locker room with a 9-0 halftime lead.

Webb came out with spirit in the second half as Dan Desio picked up a goal. But the Lions struck back as Williams again scored on an assist from Anton Loefgren. Samule Johnson scored his first collegiate goal at 71:00 on a pass from Luke Kerley. Kerley then scored his second goal of the game three minutes later with help from Simons. Tom Champlin fed Simons a pass for his fourth goal of the match. Kerley scored unassisted and Williams took a pass from Champlin and found the back of the net for the final goal of the game.
