Men's Soccer Victorious Over Vaughn

Men's Soccer Victorious Over Vaughn

Men's Soccer took on the Vaughn Warriors last evening in an HVIAC conference game. The Lions caught some fortunate breaks to cruise to a 2-1 victory. The key play of the game was the first goal on a TKC penalty kick in the 22nd minute of the first half. Vaughn goalkeeper, Hussein Salen, saved the shot by Craig Wishart but could not retain possession of the ball. Wishart quickly pounced on the rebound and slammed the ball into the back of the net for a 1-0 TKC lead.

13 minutes into the second half TKC was awarded another penalty kick. Daniel Fuenzalida put it past the goalkeeper and into the bottom left side of the net. The Warriors responded later with a goal after winning a ball at midfield, but it was not enough as the Lions closed things out with a 2-1 victory.

Vaughn outshot TKC 9-7 in the game while the Lions had a 6-4 edge in corner kicks. The TKC defense turned in another strong performance in front of keeper Thomas Gatt who made 4 saves in registering the win.

TKC improves to 4-6-1 overall and 3-3 in HVIAC conference play. Vaughn is 3-6 overall and 3-3 in the conference.
