King's Clips Cooper Union as Clock Expires

The King's College defeated Cooper Union 73-72 last night with a thrilling buzzer beater to end the game. Freshman Demetrius Sumpter had an outstanding game with 25 points and 13 rebounds to lead the way for King's. The Lions held a slim 39-36 lead at halftime which eventually slipped away completely when Cooper Union hit a controversial three point shot in the closing seconds of the game to take a 72-71 lead. But King's freshman Blake Eskew raced down the court on the inbounds play and launched a shot which found the net as the clock expired. Oddly, the last time these teams faced off, King's again won at the buzzer when senior Caleb Trouwborst sank a shot in the final game of the 2016-17 season back in February.

Sumtper had some help as Justin Cox also had a double double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. DeAngelo McGary had a solid night with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Benjamin Borchelt added 8 points and Jonathan Pressley chipped in with 5. Coming off the bench Luke Chambers and Carter Fletcher added 2 points each.

King's improved their record to 2-0 to start the season.
